The ‘Elus’ received after the prescribed Pooja done to . it can be worn on the wrist or waist. For 41 days the respective person must undergo a ‘Vratham’ forgoing alcohol, tobacco, non-vegetarian food and sexual relationships. After the prescribed 41 days he can lead a normal life. The ‘Elus’ is protected by remedial Poojas already done before and will retain its power for three years. The ‘Elus’must be brought to the institution every year so that the required Poojas be repeated.   After having taken a bath in the morning (after or before Rahu kaalam) wear clothes that are without any blemish (ideally, new clothes). Light a lamp. Turning to the east, take water from a copper vessel and saying the below mantra thrice, sprinkle on the ‘Elus’.

“shudyatham bhagavanne thathkripaya karunanidhe”

Take the Elus with respect and devotion in both hands,utter the Moolamantra and Sevamantra thrice and then wear it.From the day of wearing the Elus regularly take bath early in the morning,pray and chant the Moolamantra and Sevamantra.When saying these mantras in the morning ,face east and in the evening,face west.Alamp and agarbathi should be lighted while praying.

Ladies should not wear the Elus when they have their menstruation.None should wear it when they have a pollution due to a birth or death in the family.Every 6 months the Elus should be dipped in cow’s milk or holy water in order to purify it and ensure the required results.
